
We are pleased to announce that registration for our masters novice/intermediate sweep program is now open for the 2026 season! This is intended for masters who have completed a learn-to-row program and wish to continue rowing.
Program Details
- Goals
- Refine body mechanics and sweep rowing technique
- Build and improve overall fitness
- Provide a consistent coaching schedule
- Offer optional race opportunities (racing is encouraged but not required)
- Target Athletes
- Rowers and coxswains aged 18+ with prior sweep rowing experience
- Suitable for novice to intermediate-level athletes looking to advance their skills
- Program Size
- Limited to 10 athletes to ensure personalized coaching and development
- Coxswains
- Coxswains are welcome to participate
- If a dedicated coxswain is unavailable, rowers will rotate coxing duties
- A coach will always accompany the group to assist with navigation and safety
2026 Schedule
- June 2 to August 23rd
- Tuesdays 5:30-7:30pm and Sundays 7:30-9:30 am
- Practice will be held as river conditions and weather allows. If sessions are cancelled due to weather, they may be made up it it works for athlete / coach scheduled though is not guaranteed.
Requirements
- A current SCRC membership.
- Click here to become a member of Swan Creek Rowing Club.
- Completed SCRC learn to row/sweep or similar at another rowing club.
- Swimming ability is required.
- Registration on Regatta Central. See link.
- Rowing attire is close-fitting shorts or pants and a t-shirt; additional layers depending on weather; gym shoes for land sessions; water sandals for walking in the water for launching and returning; socks for in the boat.
- You must be able to lift 30 lbs above your head and carry it uphill for 50 yards.
- Participants must be 18 years or older. If you are under 18 years old and/or not in your senior year of high school, and have completed learn to row then please go to our Juniors Team page.
