Adult Intro to Sculling
Intro to Sculling is a great way for those new to the sport to try out sculling (rowing with two oars, one one in each hand) in a trainer single (one person boat). Ideally, an athlete who enjoys rowing, would like to continue private sculling lessons until self-sufficient in a trainer single (or beyond), and join SCRC as a full member. This is also a good start for those with previous sweep experience wanting to learn to scull, those returning to rowing after taking a break, or a unique gift idea for adventurous people!

Meet the Coach
Coach Min

Min has coached at Swan Creek for over 12 years, having started her own rowing career in college back in the UK. Since then she has rowed, raced and coached across the world. Well, in two countries anyway! Min is a US Rowing Level 2 certified coach and has gained coaching experience from Princeton University and SCRC crew coaches during her coaching career. She has coached a wide range of athletes from adult and youth starting out on their rowing journey to those who have gone on to competitive NCAA Division I rowing programs. Min is known for her friendly demeanor, patience, and meeting rowers where they are, coaching at their pace.
Min started rowing in college in the UK, placing 2nd in a novice pair in a national universities regatta in her freshman year. From there she competed with her university team culminating in an appearance in the semi-finals at the Royal Henley Regatta in her senior year. When she moved to Brighton, on the south coast of England, she joined a coastal rowing team rowing in pairs and fours, winning the South Coast Senior Women’s title with that team. After moving to the States, she learned to scull on the East River on NYC, and then back into competitive crews on the Chicago River with Lincoln Park BC. She won several medals with them at Masters Nationals including AA 8+ and Ltwt AA 8+. Before leaving Chicago for Newtown she competed in the Great Lakes marathon, with a Boston Marathon qualifying time, and was bow seat in the winning Club Open 4+ boat at the Head of the Charles Regatta.
Coach Holland

Holland has been part of the Swan Creek community since 2017, beginning her rowing journey as a youth athlete and then competing at the collegiate level. She rowed with Swan Creek Rowing Club throughout her youth career, graduating in 2022, and also competed for The Hun School of Princeton during her junior and senior years — including bowing the senior double at the Head of the Charles Regatta. She has experience in both sweep and sculling.
After graduating, Holland went on to row at Rutgers University, competing for three years at the Division I Big Ten level. In her Junior year, she helped her crew earn first, second, and third place finishes at the Big Ten Invitational, claimed first at Eastern Sprints, and closed the season with a bronze medal at the Big Ten Championship — all in the 4th Varsity 8. During her time at Rutgers, Holland was also invited to the PR3 Team Selection Camp, a remarkable achievement, though an injury prevented her from attending.
Holland is a US Rowing Level 1 certified coach and has coaching experience at Mercer and Swan Creek. She works with athletes of all ages and abilities — from youth to adult — and is known for her positive, encouraging coaching style and her ability to meet athletes exactly where they are.
