
We are pleased to announce that registration for our masters novice/intermediate sweep program is now open for the 2026 fall season! This is intended for masters who have completed a learn-to-row program and wish to continue rowing.
Program Details
- Goals
- Refine body mechanics and sweep rowing technique
- Build and improve overall fitness
- Provide a consistent coaching schedule
- Offer optional race opportunities (racing is encouraged but not required)
- Intended Athletes
- Rowers and coxswains aged 18+ with prior sweep rowing experience, members of SCRC
- Suitable for novice and intermediate-level athletes looking to advance their skills
- Program Size
- Limited to 14 athletes to ensure coaching and development
- If increased interest, can consider adding more when additional coaching support becomes available
- Racing
- Race boats can be made and practiced from athletes in the program who are interested in racing
- Races and associated race fees TBD
- Coxswains
- Coxswains are welcome to participate
- If a dedicated coxswain is unavailable, rowers will rotate coxing duties
- A coach will always accompany the group to assist with navigation and safety
- Cost: $275
2026 Fall Schedule
- September 8 to October 30.
- Tuesdays and Fridays 5:30-7:30pm in September, 5-7pm in October due to early sunset.
- Cancellations due to weather will be made up only if coach and athletes schedules allow, rescheduling of sessions cancelled due to weather is not guaranteed.
- Attendance is strongly encouraged.
Requirements
- A current SCRC membership.
- Click here to become a member of Swan Creek Rowing Club.
- Completed SCRC learn to row/sweep or similar at another rowing club.
- Swimming ability is required.
- Registration on Regatta Central. See link.
- Rowing attire is close-fitting shorts or pants and a t-shirt; additional layers depending on weather; gym shoes for land sessions; water sandals for walking in the water for launching and returning; socks for in the boat.
- You must be able to lift 30 lbs above your head and carry it uphill for 50 yards.
- Participants must be 18 years or older. If you are under 18 years old and/or not in your senior year of high school, and have completed learn to row then please go to our Juniors Team page.
