Masters Sweep-to-Scull Program

This program is intended for masters who currently know how to sweep that want to develop their sculling skills. Registration is now open!
2026 Program Details

- Intended athletes: Masters with 1+ year of sweep experience. SCRC membership is required.

- Program fee: $400
- When river and weather conditions permit, and at the coach’s discretion, athletes will complete the flip test component of the Basic Skills Checklist. See this link on how to successfully complete a flip test.
- Program goals: Learn to scull, improve sculling technique, learn river navigation and bowing, complete the SCRC Basic Skills Checklist to graduate to independent sculling in a trainer 1x.
Schedule
- Monday June 1, 2026 to Wednesday August 19, 2026.
- Monday / Wednesday mornings from 6am to 8am.
- 12 week program – each athlete practices 20 sessions.
- Weeks 1 to 8 (8 weeks) – Athletes practice 2 sessions per week in team boats, starting in quads and progress to doubles.
- Weeks 9 to 11 (4 weeks) – Athletes practice 1 session per week. Group will be split into two 4-person groups and row once per week, Wednesdays or Fridays. Progress to trainer 1xs, such as Peinert zephyrs, Maas Aero, Maas24 at coaches discretion.
- Practice will be held as river conditions and weather allows. If sessions are cancelled due to weather, they may be made up if it works for the athlete or coach scheduled however it is not guaranteed.
