Swan Creek youth rowers represented us at Mainline Slide on Superbowl Sunday, gaining fantastic results and PRs all round.
Will Darling and Ryan Stack raced in the ever competitive Junior Mens event, Will placed 4th, 9 seconds ahead of 5th with an incredible time of 6:33:9. Ryan edged closer to the 7 minute mark, pulling 7:04:3 to secure 14th overall, with his 4th ever erg test. Both our senior men are looking to continue to row in college, these results help cement that future. Well done gentlemen!
The ladies represented us in the Junior Womens and Junior Frosh Womens events. Gabi Roberts finished in 5th place with 7:46:3 (surprising herself but no-one else!) in this, her junior year. Looking forward to seeing where she goes next year. We had 3 ladies in the Frosh category (Sophomore year and younger) with freshman Shelby Williford leading the pack, placing 2nd with a blisteringly fast 7:56:3, fighting all the way to the line. Maddie Wazner (8th grade) and Mikayla Stewart (freshman) rounded out the top 5 finishers, Maddie pulling a huge PR with 8:18:7 to place 4th, Mikayla in 5th place with 8:25:7 after struggling to recover from illness earlier in the week. The future looks very bright ladies!
Thank you to coxswain Anna Gambescia for your encouragement, a tenacious and loyal teammate, continuing your support for your crew members and team.
It takes guts to take on big clubs at large competitions, at such an individual level. We’re very proud of you for competing, racing with level heads as others blow up around you, amidst all the chaos. And with such great results to boot!
