2017 Adult Learn to Row

You may see some new faces around the boat site for the next few weeks as the Club conducts this year’s Adult LTR. We have 10 beginners who are taking the 10 session (Tuesday nights & Sunday mornings) program which is focused on providing an introduction to our sport. After the LTR clinic, the participants will be able to join the Club in August.

This year’s program is being coached by Kate Castonguay, and at this time I would like to recognize Julia Gearhart for doing a great job in organizing the program. The Adult LTR will run thru the first week of August and we could use some volunteers from the membership to help as seat fillers etc. If you would like to help, please contact Julia at [email protected]

Regatta Season!

The sprint racing season for SCRC kicked off on June 17th with several Club members competing in the Schuylkill Navy Regatta in Philadelphia. SCRC had great success with Gold medals for Ted Pytlar in the Masters 1x and Gold for the Men’s 4+ (younger crew) of Gallagher, Albanir, Ranzh & Price. SCRC also had silver medal performances in the Men’s 4+ (the elder) and Men’s 8+.

This past weekend was the Independence Day Regatta. We had multiple entries for both our youth & master’s programs.  There was another strong performance by the Albanir 4+, and the Women’s Junior 8+ made it to the finals.

Next weekend SCRC will be in Washington DC for the Capital Sprints (youth program & some Masters entries) as well as the Carnegie Lake Regatta in Princeton NJ. Several Club boats will be off site for these regattas, so check the boat schedule on the website.

We wish all of our oars men & women the best of luck!
