Remember to yield to and not block the shad netting operation that takes place along the Jersey shore starting at Lewis Island (just above the free bridge) and continuing upriver for about 1000 meters. When netting is in progress you will likely see a large rowboat just off shore and several people walking alongside on the bank. The net extends from the shore to the rowboat and is not always visible until you are on top of it. Try to steer clear of the operation. Coaching launches and shells should not stop downriver of the netting as the fishermen cannot easily stop once in motion.
The Lewises, who run the operation, were the club’s host for many years and should be extended the utmost respect.
