The governor of the state of New Jersey recently issued two executive orders #241 and #242, the latter effective May 28, 2021, which collectively rescind all outdoor mask and social distancing requirements, with social distancing restrictions still in place individuals not fully vaccinated. FACE COVERINGS AND SOCIAL DISTANCING
On May 16th, the New Jersey governor issued Executive Order 241 which included the statement: “Individuals in outdoor public spaces are not required to wear masks, regardless of their ability to maintain six feet of distance from other individuals or groups, and regardless of their vaccination status.”
On May 24th (effective May 28th) the New Jersey Governor issued Executive Order 242 which included the statement: “Effective Friday, May 28, 2021, the requirement … that all attendees at indoor gatherings, …, and sports practices and competitions, are required to be six feet apart from other attendees, with certain exceptions, is hereby rescinded.” However, it does state: “In accordance with CDC recommendations, individuals who are not fully vaccinated should continue to practice social distancing.”
SCHEDULING PRACTICES AND RESERVING EQUIPMENT
Rowing in all classes of boats is allowed. However, members are encouraged to consider dividing larger teams into smaller groups and staggering practices at different times or across different days, if members of the groups are not fully vaccinated.
- The Youth Crews are following this approach.
- Row in groups of no more than 10 people (nine athletes and one coach).
- Unless all are fully vaccinated, participants should row in the same group each day if possible and not cross over to different groups to limit cross-group exposure.
Members are to continue to use the iCrew to reserve a boat/oars and for on-water check out/check in. Using iCrew allows you to see who else will be at the site so that you may avoid crowding.
ARRIVING AND DEPARTING THE SITE AND USE OF PUBLIC RESTROOMS
All masters and youth rowers and groups are responsible for self-checking temperature prior to each practice. Anyone with a temperature of 101.5 degrees F should not come to the boat site.
Any rower who tests positive or knows to have come into contact with a person who has tested positive is to (1) report that to the coach (for youth or masters coached sessions) and to others with whom they have rowed in the same boat or at the same time, (2) report that to the President of the SCRC Board ([email protected]) and (3) refrain from coming to the site for 14 days.
Participants who are fully vaccinated AND are asymptomatic following a close contact or know exposure to COVID are exempt from quarantine and testing. Vaccinated participants are subject to these steps if they are symptomatic.
All rowers and rowing groups are responsible for supplying and using hand sanitizer prior to arriving at the site.
The State has posted signage on the restrooms that are adjacent to the site. Please read and follow the rules.
USE OF EQUIPMENT; LAUNCHING AND RETURNING
Around the site and launch area, training groups in which all members are fully vaccinated no longer need to wear a mask outdoors.
For all shared equipment, all touched surfaces, including oar handles, boats, tools, and outboard engines are to be cleaned with disinfectant after to each practice.
Coxswains in eights or other stern-coxed boats, must wear a well-fitting mask (or a surgical mask) and wrap-around eye protection while on the water unless all members of the boat are fully vaccinated.
