This past Sunday at 7 pm Nancy Beadle’s family and boatmates gathered on the river for a farewell. Different people spoke about Nancy and her impact on their lives. But the choice of the site was due, primarily, to how much Nancy talked about the beauty and peace she found in rowing and I think they wanted to say their goodbyes to her where she was happy.
The ceremony was deliberately kept small at the express wishes of the family. There will be a boat naming ceremony in Nancy’s honor in the near future. Our hope is that the boat renaming will be an opportunity for all, at the club, who felt connected with Nancy to say their goodbyes.
(Thanks to Trish for some photos of the occasion.)
