Corona virus Update III

Since my last COVID-19 update, Governors Murphy (NJ) and Wolf (PA) have issued updated Shelter-In-Place orders, on March 21st and March 23rd respectively.

As a Board, we had previously planned to bring some of the Club’s singles and doubles out of winter storage to provide members with an opportunity to row in line with the Orders’ provision for individuals to engage in an outdoor activity by themselves or with family or household members while practicing social distancing.

However, we have determined that the shared nature of using and cleaning Club equipment puts us more in line with the Orders’ closure of gyms and fitness clubs.

Therefore, in the interest of our members’ and communities’ health and in line with both NJ and PA’s shelter-in-place conditions, the Board has determined to keep the Club closed until the current orders are eased or lifted. A red flag will be posted at the site prohibiting rowing with Club-owned equipment.

Private boat owners are not in danger of potential infection from sharing equipment. If a private boat owner chooses to row, it is very much at your own discretion. Despite the red flag at the site, we will continue to list the river condition and forecast on our website. We advise you to follow CDC guidelines to wash hands prior to arrival at the river; remain 6ft apart from others in the Park, including the ramp and on the river, and to clean your equipment before and after use. Please make sure to have hand sanitizer in your car as the Park’s restrooms are closed and to bring any rigging tools and cleaning supplies you might need as the Club’s storage trailer has been emptied and locked.

We continue to make decisions in the best interests of all involved, placing the health, safety and well-being of our members and community above all other considerations. Thank you for your patience. I do hope that when we get back on the river, this experience will make those beautiful sunrises and sunsets on the Delaware all the more wonderful.

Trusting that you and your loved ones are all staying well.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions
