Boat Captains, Boats, Car Washes and Barbeque

BOAT CAPTAIN NEEDED

Our Club’s Boat Captain and VP, Chris Bowley (and his wife) have moved out of state. The Club is seeking a volunteer to fill in as Boat Captain for the remainder of the season. Duties include keeping an eye on the boats for needed repairs, making arrangements for repairs, arranging for transport to and from the repair shop,  finding rack space for new boats and private boats, keeping spare parts on hand and coordinating the use of the team boats among the Youth, Women and Men’s sweep groups.

Please contact Ted  if you would like to volunteer.

BOAT DAMAGE

If you damage a boat (as many of us have), please report it to one of the Board members right away. Your dues cover the repairs. Please do not simply put it back in the rack and forget about it. Our boats are used by many members; and we try to have repairs done as soon as possible.

LIGHTWEIGHT QUAD

Our lightweight scullers have put in a request for the Club to purchase a LW 4x. However, we have found that this type of boat is hard to find on the used boat market. One option is rent to own. The men’s sweep group is doing this for a HW 4+. If you are a LW sculler and would consider chipping in extra money for rent to own on a LW Quad, contact Gwyn Linus

FUNDRAISING

The Youth Rowers are sponsoring a car wash on Saturday, August 25, at the New Hope-Solebury High School.  The money raised is used to travel to fall regattas and other Youth Program expenses.

BARBEQUE – SUNDAY, AUGUST 26

The Youth car wash is one day prior to the Club Picnic! The Picnic is returning after a several year hiatus. Our gracious hosts will be the Savage family. Address is 6070 Carversville Road, Doylestown, PA 18902. Begins at 3PM.

Please RSVP to Murray Glover by August 20 so we know how much food and drinks to purchase.
