Masters Sweep-to-Scull Program

We are happy to share a coached program opportunity for masters who want to develop their sculling skills. Coach Holly Green will be coaching the program. Seats are limited and the program starts on June 9th!

  • Intended athletes: Masters with 1+ year of sweep experience. SCRC membership is required.
  • Program fee: $400
  • When river and weather conditions permit, and at the coach’s discretion, athletes will complete the flip test component of the Basic Skills Checklist
  • Program goals: Learn to scull, improve sculling technique, learn river navigation and bowing, complete the SCRC Basic Skills Checklist to graduate to independent sculling in a trainer 1x
  •  Monday, June 9, 2025 to Thursday, August 28, 2025
    • Monday / Thursday mornings at 6 to 8am
  • 12 week program – each athlete practices 20 sessions
  • Weeks 1 to 8 (8 weeks) – Athletes practice 2 sessions per week in team boats, starting in quads and progress to doubles. 
  • Weeks 9 to 11 (4 weeks) – Athletes practice 1 session per week. Group will be split into two 4-person groups and row once per week, Wednesdays or Fridays. Progress to trainer 1xs, such as Peinert zephyrs, Maas Aero, Maas24 at coaches discretion.

Coach Holly Green is a USRowing Level 2 Certified Coach. She has rowed competitively at the Masters level in high profile events including Head of the Charles, Masters Nationals, Diamond State Masters, Head of the Housatonic, Green Mountain Head, Independence Day Regatta, Schuylkill Navy Regatta, Carnegie Lake Regatta, and Quaker City Masters Regatta in both sweep and sculling. 

With 20+ years of fitness training experience, she understands the movement patterns that are essential for achieving optimal function and movement for activities from work to sport to everyday life. It is her goal as a coach to teach the skills of the sport to those she works with in such a way that they are not only successful, but enjoy their experience as well. If the athletes have a positive outlook on their experiences and have learned things about themselves and life also, then she has succeeded. With a primary focus on sculling, she has leveraged her years of fitness training experience and knowledge of body mechanics to help improve the technical skills of novice and experienced rowers.
