Club Update – Start of Season

Please refrain from using the team boats until the boat move. While the weather is gorgeous and everyone would love to row, we need to next two weeks to ensure the boats and other equipment are in good working order.

Additionally, the boat move and site cleanup have been consolidated and will both occur on 3/31, instead of 4/1. The more people we have, especially if you have a rack, the faster we can get on the water.

Thanks for your patience and see everyone on the water soon,  Chris

Club News 3/11/12

We are getting ready for the rowing season.

Saturday March 25 is the Ergfest! The fest will start at 10:30AM at the New Hope Eagle Firehouse. The competition will be 2,000 meters. Contestants will be grouped by age and gender. Boats will be displayed electronically on a 6-lane course. This is your chance to show-off those improvements in technique and stamina that you have made over the winter! For those interested, see the Ergfest Flyer.

We have a site cleanup and boat move days planned for Saturday, March 31st and Sunday, April 1st. We are doing these things earlier this year in anticipation of continued warm weather. Please mark your calendars to reserve these dates. In spite of the mild winter weather, we will be watching the river closely to make sure that the conditions are adequate before any equipment is launched. Bring shovels, wheelbarrows, work gloves, rakes for the site maintenance. We received an edict from the County to move our boat trailer out of the Fairgrounds tent last week. So the big boats and the trailer are already at the boat site. Therefore, the boat move on April 1st will be limited to getting the small boats and oars from the Sodano’s barn in Rosemont, and rigging all of the club boats. More details to follow.

And, of course, before you can row, your membership dues need to be paid. The membership application is on the website under “Membership” drop-down menu. If you have trouble accessing the file, send an email to [email protected]. As always, remember that all pages of the application need to be filled in. It is important for our insurance policy that you sign the waiver and the swim certification. Your membership is not considered current until all paperwork is complete. To be efficient, both for yourself and and club, we will have applications and pens at the membership meeting – just bring your checkbook!
