Reminders on Boat Care & River Navigation

We have enjoyed some good water levels for the past few weeks however as we head into the heat of July, water levels will drop. Please use extra care when launching and returning to the boat ramp.

  • The best practice is to wade out to the river to your knees when launching and on the return, control your boat speed. Several boats have been scratched recently due to the rock bottom at the boat ramp.
  • We have purchased boat polish and cleaning rags. If you are a primary user of a specific Club Boat, you should consider polishing up the boat for the rest of the season. Since our boats are stored outside, they do collect a variety of mess (tree sap, bird droppings, etc.), in addition to the water stains from the river. The instructions on how to use the polish can be found in the back shed with the polish.

2018 Club Leadership

It is not too early to start thinking about 2018! The Club will have some open positions for next year’s SCRC Board of Directors, including the role of Club President. Due to changing work & other commitments I will not be able to continue to serve as Club President. Also, I have been in the role for a while now and it would be good to have someone new step up. If you would consider taking on a leadership role in the Club, please contact me so we can discuss this position and any others. I will still be able to assist with some of the key initiatives such as the new site lease and site move. Richard.
